After a year-long investigation into methamphetamine distribution throughout the United States, U.S. Attorney Deborah R. Gilg (NE) announced in a press release on Tuesday, the operation led to the federal indictment of 63 individuals for distribution of controlled substance, possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
Approximately 56 individuals have been arrested by law enforcement in an area which ranges from Grand Island to Northeastern Colorado on various meth charges, while five have been apprehended. Information about the amount of meth or money have yet to be released.
“This is an incredible effort involving nearly thirty law enforcement agencies”, stated U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg. “The coordination and cooperation in this investigation is a tremendous tribute to the selfless dedication we see time and time again with our law enforcement agencies.”
Headed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the joint operation included investigators from the Cooperative Operation for Drug Enforcement (CODE) Drug Task Force, Western Nebraska Intelligence & Narcotics Group (WING), and the Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force (CNDSSTF), and Colorado law enforcement authorities. The investigation also included several Nebraska law enforcement agencies.
